How can recruiters compress resume PDFs received from candidates?

Keep each candidate's original. Compress a copy only when your hiring system or handoff has a size limit; then verify names, contact details, dates, text selection, and links in the exported file. Handle candidate documents under your organization's privacy policy and do not create public share links without permission.

What resume file size should I target for a job portal?

Use the limit shown by the specific application form. There is no single size limit for every job portal. If the file already fits, avoid extra compression just to reach a smaller number.

My Word resume was rejected for file size. Can BitePDF compress it?

This compressor starts with a PDF, not a Word document. If the portal accepts PDF, export a PDF copy from Word and keep the editable original. Check whether that PDF fits the portal's limit before compressing it. Exporting to PDF may change the file size, so do not assume conversion alone solves the upload error.

The portal says 0 MB or rejects a PDF already below its limit. Should I keep compressing?

No nonempty file can meet a literal 0 MB limit. Check the portal's accepted file types and any separate page or format rules. If your PDF already fits the stated size limit but still fails, stop lowering its quality and ask the recruiter or portal support for a working upload route or an approved alternative. Do not send a ZIP or public link unless they accept it.

Does compression guarantee that an ATS can read my resume?

No. An ATS may depend on text structure as well as appearance. Keep a text-based original, test whether text can be selected in the exported copy, and review any fields the application system extracts. BitePDF's visual preview is not an ATS compatibility test.

Can I download a compressed resume PDF for free?
